Application forms and screening questions

Updated 30 October 2026

Your application form decides what candidates fill in when they apply. A shorter form gets more completed applications; a detailed one gets you more information up front. Candidates never need to create an account to apply.

Set the company form

  1. 1Open Settings and select the Application forms tab.
  2. 2Choose the quick or detailed form.
  3. 3For each field, choose whether it's shown and whether it's required. A few core fields, such as name and email, are always required.
  4. 4Save. Changes apply to new applications; existing applications aren't affected.

Change the form for one job

When you create or edit a job, open its Application form section to customise the fields for that job only. Every other job keeps the company form.

Add screening questions

  1. 1Edit the job and add screening questions.
  2. 2Mark a question as required if every applicant must answer it.
  3. 3For deal-breakers (for example a minimum qualification), set the answer that rules a candidate out.
  4. 4Optionally turn on auto-reject for that question and choose how many hours to wait first, so you can step in before anyone is rejected.
Candidates whose answers rule them out are flagged and listed after the others. They're only rejected automatically if you switched auto-reject on for that question. Screening answers also count towards the match score.
